Bouncing Back: Recovery Mechanisms of Covert Networks

چکیده
In study of covert networks and destabilization strategies thereof, much attention has been paid to the task of locating and isolating key individuals within the organization. Metrics such as centrality, betweenness, cognitive load, and others, have all been used for that purpose. The isolation act was considered successful if it resulted in the network being separated into disconnected subparts. However, the real-world covert networks that have been a target of various isolation strategies have shown a high level of resilience, and were able to quickly recover from the damage caused by the isolation. In this paper, we show that cellular covert networks use transactive memory and other latent resources as a mechanism for recovery from events that partition the network. Using a multi-agent network simulation, we proceed to show the recovery process and its effects on performance of the cellular network.

Community Capitals as Community Resilience to Climate Change: Conceptual Connections
In the last few decades, disaster risk reduction programs and climate initiatives across the globe have focused largely on the intimate connections between vulnerability, recovery, adaptation, and coping mechanisms. Recent focus, however, is increasingly paid to community resilience. Community, placed at the intersection between the household and national levels of social organization, is cruci...

متن کاملEvaluation of effects of operating parameters on combustible material recovery in coking coal flotation process using artificial neural networks
In this research work, the effects of flotation parameters on coking coal flotation combustible material recovery (CMR) were studied by the artificial neural networks (ANNs) method. The input parameters of the network were the pulp solid weight content, pH, collector dosage, frother dosage, conditioning time, flotation retention time, feed ash content, and rotor rotation speed. In order to sele...
متن کاملRecent Developments in Covert Acoustical Communications
The topic of covert acoustical communication in air has produced public attention, lately. In 2013, we presented the fact that infected drones (e.g. laptops) might form covert acoustical mesh networks in air, only utilizing the built-in speakers and microphones. In this article, we aim to present the current state of covert acoustical communication in air. We discuss future forms of covert acou...
